If you have a bunch of non-programmable LEDs to control, the IS31FL3728 LED Driver is the chip for you! The IS31FL3728 is designed to control LED matrixes of up to 64 LEDs, right out of the box. Brightness of the entire display is variable in 16 levels through code, as well as easy on/off functionality through the use of the SHUTDOWN pin. Further, the chip features a really simple audio input to let you make your display project audio reactive. (In testing though, the sensitivity of the MSGEQ7 was far superior.)

Simple LED matrixes aren’t all this can control. In fact, this chip is so versatile, we used it on the I2C Display Add-on to control a common cathode 4-digit seven segment display and 8 RGB LEDs.

The IS31FL3728 LED Driver breakout board ships with an 8 pin male header to connect power and signal, and a pair of 8 pin female headers to connect to a display. These headers are included, but not soldered in place to save manufacturing costs. If you would like us to solder the header for you, please select the $3.00 “Assembled” option above.

Pull Up Resistors
The IS31FL3728 LED Driver is controlled via I2C, so make sure to enable pull up resistors in your code, this board works great as-is with an Arduino Uno using the I2C Library we recommend and using internal pull ups. If you’re unable to do so, a pair of 0805 footprints are located in positions R1 and R2 for you to add your own resistors.
