This is the kit for the HP QDSP6064 Bubble Display and includes all the parts needed to complete the the Bubble Display Tutorial. Using this kit and the tutorial, you’ll be ready to build all kinds of cool projects using the teeny four digit seven segment display at the heart of this experimentation pack. From micro displays to vintage calculator rebuilds, this is such an amazing little product.
Each digits consists of seven discrete illuminated bars, that are presented through a special red plastic bezel that magnifies the display to a readable size of around 5mm tall, just like on old adding machines. Each display has four of those digits. We’ve used this part to create teeny displays for measuring in circuit current, showing temperature values on a remote sensor, displaying register values on button press, pretty much anywhere you need a little bit if numerical information but don’t want to take up a ton of board space.
The Bubble Display Experimentation Pack contains the following…
- 1x QDSP6064 Four Digit Bubble Display
- 8x 880Ω Current Limiting Resistors
- 1x SN74HC595N Shift Register
All components are through hole and specifically selected for use with breadboards. The Display and Shift Register are both of the highest quality and manufactured by Agilent and Texas Instruments respectively. The current limiting resistors are 1/4 Watt so they’re very sturdy when being inserted into a breadboard.
